Health Department Offers Live Well Be Well Program

The Ford-Iroquois Public Health Department presents Live Well, Be Well, a chronic disease self-management program.  The workshop begins on Monday, February 27th, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 PM, and continues for six Mondays at the Gibson Area Hospital.  Anyone with any chronic health problem or those who are caregivers for someone with a chronic health problem will benefit from this program.  Workshops are facilitated by two professional leaders.  Classes are highly participative, where mutual support and success build confidence in your ability to manage your health and maintain an active and fulfilling life.  The class is free.  Participants may choose to purchase a book and/or a cd.

Subjects covered include: 1) techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation, 2) appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance, 3) appropriate use of medications, 4) communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals, 5) nutrition, and, 6) how to evaluate new treatments.
